As concern rises about the potential impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, we want to advise you of the steps Edith Cowan University is taking to protect our community. Due to current Government directives on Covid-19, Peter Cowan Writers Centre has suspended all writing workshops and writing groups until further notice. This includes workshop schedules for the Emerging Writers Program and the First Draft Writers Group. Regarding competitions, we are presently investigating the use of an online program that would be suitable to allow for submissions and payments to be made online.
These social distancing measures have been put in place as proactive and reasonable steps in uncertain and troubling times. We apologise for any inconvenience caused. There will be core volunteers at the Centre who will be posting updates on our website to help keep us stay connected as a writing community. We will be using this period to keep administration running, update our website and plan future workshops, competitions and writing groups. We are working together to respond to this very difficult, unpredictable and still evolving situation.
On a positive note, due to the continued support from Edith Cowan University, the local community and our members, we want to reassure you that your writing centre is presently in a very strong financial position, and we will ride out the impact of the Coronavirus.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your continued support and understanding. We hope you and your family stay well, and we look forward to seeing you in the not-too-distant future.
