2016 Glen Phillips Poetry Prize Competition

The results for the 2016 Glen Phillips Poetry Prize are now available. At the Awards Celebration on 19 November 2016 the judge, Peter Jeffery, OAM, gave out some valuable feedback and we had the opportunity to hear the finalists’ work. Thank you to all who entered their poems.
Results

• First Place was awarded to Stephen Smithyman for ‘Half Way and Back’
• Second Place was awarded to Shey Marqe for ‘Unpicking a Bird’
• Third Place was awarded to Renee Pettitt-Schipp for ‘On Forgetting’
• The Novice Poet Award went to Denise Parker for ‘Famine on the Plenty’
• The Judge’s Encouragement Award for Youth went to Luke Bradshaw Poier for “Beethoven’s 9th”

Four Highly Commended Certificates (in no particular order) went to:
• Shane McCauley for ‘Going with the Flow’
• Damen O’Brien for ‘Extinct’
• Damen O’Brien for ‘Revelation According to Java’
• Siobhan Hodge for ‘Fushimi Inari’

Four Commended Certificates (in no particular order) went to:
• A.R. Levett for ‘Paternal Lessons’
• Anne Blair for ‘Validation’
• Skyelar Duffy for ‘A Teenage Tightrope’
• Anne Blair for ‘The Stones Cry Out’
