Brushing Up Your Stories: Structure: The Backbone of Short Story Writing with Susan Midalia (BS1616)

Susan MidaliaStructure is a vital aspect of story’s meaning, and a crucial way of engaging readers in its ideas and emotions. Using short writing exercises and samples from memorable short stories, this three-hour workshop will consider the different affects you can achieve by using kinds of structures, including fragments, multiple points of view, flashbacks and flash forwards. The aim is to encourage you to take some risks in your writing by being open to different ways of shaping a sequence of events or moments in time.
